On a recent holiday to Japan, I took the opportunity to let my stationary loving, memory keeping, colour obsessing freak flag fly. Translation: I created a kawaii journal of my trip! The stationary and art stores there are fantastic. Journaling, stickering and stamping have been around in Japan for a long time, so they know what's up. Plus, all the packaging and weird cartoon logos are so much fun! Scroll down to peep my travel supplies kit and watch the flip through video of the completed journal.
My kit for the road fit into a big ziploc and a pencil case. I used stickers, tourist maps, washi tapes, pretty papers, polaroids and collected ink stamps (commonly found in train stations and tourists stops in Japan). I didn't necessarily have time to work on it everyday, but I'd jot down daily highlights on a piece of paper before bed. And tuck any paper goods from the day into my kit so I'd have them handy when I got to making that page.
This project was a fun creative pastime and an awesome keepsake of the trip. Hope this inspires you to print some photos, write a journal or scrapbook to your heart's content!
